Reconstructive Aides were both occupational and physical therapists.The first professional physical therapy association was established in 1921. Throughout the years physiotherapists trickled into the state and became members-at-large. The state had eleven members at that time, four of which were located in Dallas. It was those members from Dallas that petitioned for a Texas Chapter. The first formal meeting of the Texas Chapter was held May 21, 1930. We envision a life empowered through optimal movement. Our mission is to advance physical therapist practice to optimize the movement, health, and wellness of people in Texas.
